Materials Depot
In 2019, my friend Haejeong and I began volunteering at the Materials Depot, a unique resource at our children’s school dedicated to sustainability and creativity. This large walk-in closet is stocked with donated, recycled, and reusable materials—including craft supplies, sewing notions, and other creative essentials—generously contributed by school families.
Every time I step inside to organize and sort materials, I witness teachers, students, and parents enthusiastically “shopping” for supplies to use in classroom activities and home projects. It’s a space where creativity and community thrive.
This past weekend, Hae and I set up an interactive weaving table at the Winter Green Fest, offering both small and large-scale projects. Kids of all ages eagerly participated, crafting beautiful threaded cardboard shapes and contributing to a collaborative community weaving wall. It was a truly inspiring day!
